What should I expect before the procedure?
The first step is to have a consultation with Dr. Soin.
You may have researched the procedure yourself, or discussed it with your own GP, but it is important for the surgeon performing the vasectomy to be able to counsel you fully about the procedure and ensure it is the right thing for you.
After discussing your own individual needs and the procedure itself, you will be examined to ensure that vasectomy under local anaesthetic is appropriate for you. At the same time, you will receive further printed information to look over and detailed pre-operative instructions.
Once you have discussed the procedure with the doctor, you will be given the opportunity to book a date for the procedure at a convenient time.
On the day of the procedure, you will be required to apply a local anaesthetic patch shortly before your vasectomy, ensuring that you will experience little or no discomfort during the procedure itself.
